Aimé Rochas: Daguerreotypist….11
Little is known about amateur Rochas who photographed in the Middle East and helped perfect a method for copying daguerreotypes. Three plates from Maxime du Camp’s album Egypt, Nubie, Palestine et Syrie are actually copy photographs from daguerreotypes made by Rochas.

Recent Acquisitions: Paul Lewis Anderson (1880-1956)….15
Self-taught photographer Anderson was a noted author of several books pertaining to the practice of pictorialist photography. He taught at the Clarence H. White School of Photography and operated a portrait studio—for a time in partnership with Karl Struss. Anderson’s daughter donated his photograph collection to George Eastman House.

Osa and Martin Johnson: World Travellers in Africa….21
