Portrait of Alden Scott Boyer, who in 1951 donated 4.5 tons of photographica to the George Eastman House. This donation included 3,000 volumes that formed the basis for the research library.

The wall label is reproduced here along with a selection of photographs included in the exhibition.

Eskind offers some preliminary research findings on a 1978 acquisition of 802 35mm negatives of Nazi activities. Images, including several of Leni Riefenstahl, seem to indicate that most or all were taken during the 1934 Reichsparteitag Rally in Nuremburg.

41….RECENT ACQUISITION: SKETCHING INDIA: THE ""INQUISITIVE BRIGHT-EYED CAMERA"" OF CAPTAIN SCOTT by Rachel Stuhlman
Description of the 1862 publication Sketches in India; taken at Hyderabad and Secunderabad, in the Madras Presidency, illustrated with 100 half-stereo images by Captain Allan N. Scott, a British officer and avid amateur photographer. The images and text result in a striking socio-political artifact.

The Sunset of the Old World….1
Eastman House intern George Dimock made modern prints from old glass plate negatives by photographer C. Chusseau Flaviens but could locate no biographical information on this chronicler of early 20th century European aristocracy. These negatives, over ten thousand, came to the George Eastman House collection from Kodak Pathé.
